Presentation:
Matisse liked used complementary colors. What color combinations do you see? His paintings are flat with large areas of color broken by lots of repeating shapes and patterns. Talk about pattern planned use of colors, lines, and shapes in a repeated sequence. What patterns did Matisse use in his painting?
Procedure:
- Hand out white poster board and have them put their names on the back.
- In the middle of the page draw a large capital letter. Draw lines either curved or straight from a corner of the letter to the corner or outer edge of your paper. After splitting the page at least four times, outline the letter with black Sharpie or fill it in. Trace the other lines with black sharpie too.
- Make a different design in each section.
- Use your markers to color it all in. Make sure you have very little or no white.
