Materials:
9 x 12 white construction paper
Black Fine Tip Sharpies
Presentation:
Discuss pattern or introduce Zentangle. Tangle Patterns is a great website explaining Zentangle and how to draw different patterns: http://tanglepatterns.com/zentangles. See handout in binder.
Procedure:
- Pass out the white paper. Write name on the back.
- Show students how to lightly draw a tree branch in pencil horizontally across the page. With pencil, show how to draw the outline of the back of a cat and its tail sitting on the tree branch. Students may add as many cats as they like, making sure to include one mouse in the line.
- Using the black Sharpie, outline and add a different pattern or Zentangle to each cat.
- You can either leave the mouse white, subtly shade it in with a pencil or light strokes of the Sharpie, or give it its own pattern.
- Outline the tree branch and add short, horizontal lines to signify the bark.
